The saying goes that life happens when you are busy making plans. Thomas Rhett even made a song about how fast life can change, and that in the blink of an eye what you had mapped out gets turned upside down. It happens to all of us, every day. I'm sure that I speak for a lot of Type A personalities when I say that the struggle with that is trying to control what is literally out of our control. Sometimes its work related, sometimes is closer to home. We all go through seasons where things are so grey that its uncomfortable and even though we know we can't change what is going to happen, we stress and over-analyze every scenario possible. For me, I tend to go to the worst possible out come there is, it's definitely not something I love about my brain- but it is what it is ya know? I know some people who are so "go with the flow" & I put on a good show when I need to, but then my mom or dad usually get to hear all about my stress induced rant. What I did find though, is there are a lot of people who handle the unknown the same way I do. What is important to remind yourself is that life is all unknown. You could go into work tomorrow and get let go due to a lay off- there is nothing you could have done differently to effect that. Not everyone is going to like you- you cannot change that because you cannot change who you are or who they are. Not every job promotion is yours, you have to roll with the punches life gives you, because she is going to keep giving them. Living life constantly stressed about things you cannot change is cheating yourself out of the enjoyment of what life is supposed to be. If something doesn't go your way, or they way you think it should at least, that just means that there is something else out there that is more fitting for the season of life you're in. You've got to let the chips fall where they may and let life take you where you need to be. There is a bigger picture here & trying to control it just muddies the colors.
